Australian Prime Minister visits ICGEB New Delhi

Friday, 19 Oct 2012, Julia Gillard welcomes collaborative malaria research

 

Ms. Gillard was in New Delhi for a three-day visit and met a team of Indian scientists, led by Chetan Chitnis, working with their counterparts at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, Australia, to develop a vaccine for malaria, which afflicted 1.6 million Indians in 2010 and is a global problem.

Ms. Gillard met with ICGEB New Delhi Director, Prof. Virander S. Chauhan, staff and researchers and toured the vast facilities at the Component.
