Meetings and Courses held in ICGEB Member States

As part of ICGEB's training programme, short-term intensive courses on techniques of biotechnology are conducted annually in ICGEB Member States.

Information for prospective meeting/course Organisers - Conditions for Application
The ICGEB covers the costs of meetings/courses organised in its Member States to a ceiling of Euro 20,000.

Laboratory courses of up to 10 days' duration are intended to train scientists and technologists in the theory and practice of advanced biotechnology research, as well as to address subjects and priorities of a regional nature. Training courses are to be conducted by the organising institute's staff and invited lecturers.

The programme also accommodates proposals for resarch workshops, symposia and conferences intended to disseminate scientific knowledge and enhance interaction of researchers and policy makers from ICGEB Member States. Research-orientated meetings are generally of 2 to 5 days duration.

Applications to organise a meeting or course can only be submitted by institutes located in ICGEB Member States.

Endorsed applications (download the PDF version or Word version - Form A and Form B) must arrive at ICGEB Trieste on or before the set deadline.

For meetings to be held in the year 2010:
Suggested deadline for submission to the ICGEB Liaison Officers to obtain the endorsement is 31 March 2009. Endorsed proposals must arrive at ICGEB Trieste by 30 April 2009.

Please note that an additional opportunity for funding of meetings and courses scheduled to be organised in Latin America and the Caribbean may eventually be offered by the BIOLAC Biotechnology Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations University, in view of the ongoing cooperation agreement with the ICGEB.
