Fellowship Programmes
Long- and short-term fellowships are available to assist in the training of scientists from ICGEB Member States through the following actions:Pre-doctoral Fellowships and International PhD Programme:
ICGEB offers postgraduate studies with the aim of obtaining the "Doctor Philosophiae" (PhD) degree in molecular genetics and molecular biology. The degree can be awarded by a number of validating entitites at the national and international level such as: Open University, UK; Scuola Normale Superiore SNS Pisa, Italy; University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia; Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, and University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Postdoctoral Fellowships:
Scientists may apply for a postdoctoral fellowship to be carried out at one of the Compenents. Successful candidates may be eligibile for follow-up funding for their research upon their return to the home institute through the "Return Grant Programme".
Flexible Fellowships:
Short-term fellowships to be awarded for ongoing collaborative research between scientists from ICGEB Member States and the research groups at the ICGEB Laboratories in Trieste, New Delhi and Cape Town. The "Sandwich" PhD Programme offers opportunities to PhD registered students wishing to carry out part of their experimental studies at the ICGEB Laboratories in the framework of an agreed collaboration.
General Guidelines and Application Form
ICGEB Fellowship Programmes are open to nationals of ICGEB Member States only, who must submit their application to the ICGEB Liaison Officer in their country of origin for endorsement. Endorsement is an essential prerequisite for acceptance of application. Only endorsed applications will be transmitted to ICGEB Headquarters for review and final selection.Italian and Indian nationals should refer to the “Information and Guidelines” of each individual funding Programme for relevant eligibility conditions.
Research activities may be undertaken only at the ICGEB laboratories located in Italy (Trieste, Ca' Tron (Treviso) and Monterotondo (Rome)), India and South Africa.
Applicants must contact the ICGEB Group Leader of their choice to ascertain laboratory space availability and obtain a prior agreement on their proposed research project in order to be admitted to selection.

Fellowships - Statistics
CERES - Call for applications for the new CEI Research Fellowship Programme, funded in the framework of the EU FP7, People - Cofund Action Building on a network of five partner research institutes - SISSA, ICTP, ICGEB, ELETTRA and CBM – the CERES programme awards Fellowships to experienced researchers who are nationals from CEI Member States.
