The course will introduce an overview about general biotechnology techniques that can be used for improvement of the agricultural crops. Applying molecular marker techniques to assist plant breeding programs will assist plant breeders for more precise breeding programs in shorter time periods in comparison to the classical methods. The course describes types of molecular markers and its applications in marker assisted selection and molecular breeding.

The trainees will have the time to be introduced to the biotechnology laboratory and its fundamental techniques. They will get hands-on training on the most common molecular markers techniques. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to work with biotechnology computer softwares and bioinformatics that can assist them in the breeding programs.

The trainees will identify the most recent high throughput technologies in the area of plant biotechnology.
