The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged.

The meeting is aimed at discussing priority agricultural research areas relating to improved nutritional health in Africa.Issues related to the diversity of diets in the context of food production and availability, as well as safety issues, will be addressed.

Local and international experts will discuss current and future challenges facing the African continent and propose areas of synergy between health and agricultural projects. Adequate time will be allocated for general discussion and for short presentations by participants. Dedicated poster sessions will also be organised during tea/coffee breaks so as to facilitate general discussion.

The workshop programme will focus on:

  1. Understanding changes in pathogen populations related to changes in agriculture/ecological systems; including research and applications of diagnostics.

  2. Agricultural practices focused on production, post harvest processing and distribution of products

  

Funding

  • Participants are expected to cover their own travel and living costs

  • Accommodation and lunches will be provided to all selected participants
